Protours 'a valued transport provider'

The transport watchdog TravelWatch is expressing concern over the potential loss of the Isle of Man's only coach company.

Last week Protours issued redundancy notices to all 15 staff.

The firm cited the loss of school journey work as a major factor in its current difficulties.

The contract went to the government-run enterprise Bus Vannin.

TravelWatch spokesman Dick Clague says if Protours goes out of business, a valued transport provider will have been lost, to the detriment of the tourism industry:
