WITH exactly one year to go until the London Olympics, Lloyds TSB staff have celebrated the occasion by cycling the 56 miles between all four of the bank’s Island branches.
But instead of taking to the roads, the staff cycled the miles on an exercise bike from Carrefour in their Douglas branch on Prospect Hill.
The event raised over £150, which was matched by Lloyds TSB to make a total of £300 for Save The Children.
Staff took turns on the cycling machine collectively covering the distance between Lloyds TSB Douglas, Castletown, Ramsey and Peel branches.
“It was a great way to mark the beginning of our in-branch Olympic campaign,” said Lucy Felton, Olympic ambassador for Lloyds TSB. “The customer support was amazing and I would like to thank every person who helped make the day such a success. Big congratulations to all involved!”
There still time to nominate someone from the Island to be an Olympic torchbearer in the Isle of Man next June. To find out how to nominate visit www.lloydstsblondon2012.co.uk/carrytheflame or call into any Lloyds TSB branch and pick up one of the Olympic nomination guides. Entries close on September 12th 2011.
