by isleofman.com 1st August 2011

THE 135th anniversary of the Douglas horse tram service will be celebrated this weekend.

It will be marked on Sunday (August 7) at 2pm with a cavalcade of trams leaving from the Strathallan Terminus and there will be gifts for children.

The trams, which are owned and operated by Douglas Borough Council, run throughout the summer months.

The service was started in 1876 by Thomas Lightfoot.
