Minister defends Protours decision

The education minister has defended his department's decision to award some of its transport contracts to Bus Vannin, over private firm Protours.

Eddie Teare says it was the best deal offered in the recent tender process.

Bus Vannin appear to have been able to put in the most competitive tender, despite it being revealed in Tynwald last month that the government-run division had a ?6 million deficit in the last financial year.

Mr Teare says his department's officials followed normal procedures:
