Island youngsters to get a headstart

The Island's secondary schools are throwing open their doors during the summer holidays to give students a helping hand in key subjects.

Week-long schemes are running at QEII and Ramsey Grammar School at the beginning of the holidays, then at Ballakermeen and Castle Rushen just before the start of the new academic year in September.

The Education Department says more than 100 students will benefit from attending.

Minister Eddie Teare says Headstart - as the scheme is known - is tailored to be relevant and stimulating for the children:
