WITH a fine and dry weather forecast issued by the Met Office, the prospects are very positive for large crowds at this weekend’s Southern Agricultural Show.
The event annually showcases all that is good about the Isle of Man. The focus of attention, as always, is on the livestock which are in abundance on Saturday, together with judging for the highly coveted Supreme Champion award.
The popular show again takes place at its traditional home - Great Meadow on the outskirts of Castletown.
Regular attractions include trade stands, craft demonstrations, beekeepers, some fantastic old farm machinery still in working order and, of course, the food tent.
The highlight for many has a competitive element in the numerous marquees featuring competitions as diverse as photography and flower arranging to cake making and the best pot of strawberry jam.
All sorts of other entertainment will take place throughout the two days. isleofman.com will report on the show over the weekend.
Ample free car parking is provided by the organisers in the nearby fields and police will be on duty throughout Saturday and Sunday.
Admission to the show is by the Show Guide which can be bought at the entrance.
