by isleofman.com 27th July 2011

STU Francis - best known for children's TV show Crackerjack - will be appearing at the Palace Hotel in Douglas at a Cabaret Night.

He hosted the programme from 1979 to 1984 and he was known for phrases such as 'ooh, I could crush a grape'.

Stu also appeared on The Comedians and Live at Her Majesty's and appeared in two children's Royal Command Performances.

The event takes place on Saturday, August 6 and will also feature Andy Leach who has appeared on the Royal Variety Show, performing in front of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary.

Also on the bill is singer Mike McArdle - who has worked alongside Van Morrison, Bob Dylan and Jools Holland - and young classically trained vocalist Kimira who won Southport's search for a star when she was only 17.

Sefton Group director of hotels and leisure Adrian Brockhouse said: "The cabaret nights are part of a series of live entertainment at the Palace Hotel and Casino. The diversity of the acts lined up means it will be a great night on August 6."

The event is for over 18s only. For ticket details ring 682776.
