THE classic coastal cruise ship Balmoral will return to Manx waters next month for her 25th year of Isle of Man sailings.
The ship's lounge bar has been restored thanks to a hard working team of expert volunteers and substantially financed by a win on ITV's Peoples Millions competition.
As well as bringing in hundreds of day excursion passengers to the Island from Whitehaven and Garlieston on six separate days, there are three afternoon cruises being offered from Douglas Harbour.
On Saturday, August 13 the Balmoral will cruise non-stop round the Island leaving at 1.30pm and returning at 6.30pm.
It will also be cruising to the Calf of Man on Friday, August 12, leaving at 1.30pm and Saturday, September 10, leaving at 1.15pm.
Both trips are scheduled to call at Port St Mary on the way back.
Balmoral was built in Southampton in 1949. In 1980 she became a floating restaurant but gradually began to fall into disrepair until she was rescued by the friends and supporters of the Waverley, a ship built on the Clyde in 1947.
She returned to service in 1986 and to this day operates her main summer season in the Bristol Channel, offering day excursions to popular coastal resorts, as well as making visits to other ports and piers throughout the UK in spring and autumn.
