Loss of Fund Management Company could hurt Island

by isleofman.com 24th July 2011

The Economic Development Minister says the loss of a fund management company could hurt the sector in the Isle of Man.

Earlier this week it emerged that Credit Suisse is considering its future in the Island.

There are claims that at least 26 jobs could be going, though there is also speculation in some quarters that the entire Manx operation could be closing down.

So far there's been no official confirmation from the company on exactly what their plans are.

Economic Development Minister Allan Bell told Manx Radio the fund sector in the Isle of Man is not as robust as in competing jurisdictions.
