Shuttle programme could have continued

A Manx space enthusiast says the end of the NASA shuttle programme is a huge disappointment.

Howard Parkin from the Isle of Man Astronomical Society watched the end of the final flight yesterday [Thurs] as Atlantis and its crew returned safely to Earth.

He says there's no doubt space exploration can cost lives and financial constraints have played a major part in bringing the programme to a close.

But he believes more could have been done to keep the programme going
