by isleofman.com 21st July 2011

PEEL MHK Tim Crookall has announced he intends to defend his seat at the House of Keys general election on September 29.

Over the past five years he has gained experience with six different departments and authorities.

These have been at Transport/Infrastructure leading Highways and Properties; Home Affairs in charge of the Prison and Probation Service; the former Department of Local Government and the Environment responsible for housing; Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture responsible for forestry, amenity and lands and he has served as vice chairman of the Office of Fair Trading and chairman of the Isle of Man Water and Sewerage Authority.

He has also been on numerous standing and select committees of Tynwald and the House of Keys.

Mr Crookall said: "The Manx Government is now in a period where it is going to be tested to the full. As a result of the changes in the revenue sharing agreement we need to be able to rely more than ever on experience, leadership, commitment, stability and reliability.

"The public sector, private sector and the third sector will need to work closer together in the future for the betterment of the Isle of Man.

"I look forward to the coming weeks canvassing the electorate of Peel in the run up to the general election."

Rodger Gimbert and Raymond Harmer have also previously announced they will be standing for the single seat constituency of Peel.
