MORE than 170 people enjoyed a Chamber concert by members of the Isle of Man Symphony Orchestra at Trinity Methodist Church on Sunday.
The programme, under the baton of Maurice Powell and leadership of William Pickering, included highlights such as Saint Saëns' Cello Concerto no.1 - with former Young Musician of Mann Eleanor Jones as soloist - Handel's Organ Concerto The Cuckoo and the Nightingale and Albinoni's haunting Adagio, both with organ soloist John Riley, along with favourite extracts from Handel's Water Music and Pergolesi's beautiful Stabat Mater, with top soloists Karen Elliott (soprano) and Adrienne Murray (mezzo soprano).
Chairman of the 125 Committee Sue Collier said: "It was a fabulous afternoon, the music and soloists were excellent.
"We were delighted that the Isle of Man Symphony Orchestra agreed to be part of our 125 year of celebrations.
"It was a rare and exciting opportunity to hear such a varied orchestral programme and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it."
Trinity Methodist Church is celebrating its 125 years of Christian witness with special services and social events taking place throughout the year.
Plans for the coming months include an outdoor songs of praise and family picnic at Nobles Park bandstand (August 14 at 3pm) and a special service for Samhain, the celebration of the Celtic New Year (October 30).
Trinity Methodist Church has more than 10 groups including the Men's Java group, sporty church for children aged 7 to 11 years and a book club.
Services take place every Sunday at 10.30am (which include Sunday school.)
