Union launches Axe Factor

by isleofman.com 19th July 2011

Are Manx politicians worth what they're paid?

That's a question being posed by the Isle of Man TUC ahead of this year's General Election.

The Union launched a campaign called "The Axe Factor" this afternoon (Tues) to highlight the issue.

They claim the average member of Tynwald costs nearly £78,000 a year.

Speaking at the launch outside Legislative Buildings, Secretary of the IOM TUC Eric Holmes says people need to decide if they're getting value for money
