ALMOST 40 cyclists have taken part in a charity bike ride around the TT Course in support of the local charity Dot's Dream Foundation.
38 competitors took part in the event, on Saturday, July 9, with 22 managing to complete the entire course.
The fastest lap was completed by Ritchie Stevenson in two hours and 24 minutes. Runner up Mark Harrop came just behind in two hours and 26 minutes.
Dot's Dream Foundation was set up in memory of the former Mayor of Douglas Dot Pitts in order to continue the charitable work she carried out. The Manx registered charity raises money to help the fight against cancer and to provide facilities for cancer patients and their families.
Speaking about the event Stevie Pitts, Dot’s son, said: "I first had the idea with a couple of friends - we're not cyclists but thought it would be a challenge and something to work towards.
"It was a lot harder than we thought it would be but I think everyone enjoyed it and it ran really well. Most people did the whole course despite not being cyclists, and did it a lot faster than they thought so it was a great personal achievement for a lot of people."
Dot's Dream Foundation has thanked all participants, marshals and the Mayor and Mayoress of Douglas, who started the event on a tandem bike, and sponsors for their support.
The next event planned by the charity is a trip on the MV Karina on Saturday, July 20. Tickets cost £20. More information is available by e-mailing dotsdream@manx.net.
