by isleofman.com 19th July 2011

A CHARITY plane pull has raised more than £3,000 for the Island's hospice.

The event on Sunday, organised by Manx2.com, saw eight teams attempt to pull a five tonne aircraft over a 40 metre uphill course.

A team from Manx Radio were declared the winners after recording a time of 19.80 seconds with the team from Barclays Wealth, Mice not Men, finishing half a second behind. Third place was awarded to another team from Barclays Wealth – the Queen Vic.

Noel Hayes, chairman of Manx2.com, presented all participants with a specially commissioned slate plaque to mark their participation.

He said: "The Manx Radio team just pipped the other teams – seemingly able to tune in to the right frequency required to pull the plane faster than anyone else. Well done and thank you to all the teams."
