A UK police officer charged with causing the death of a Manx student in Sheffield will appear in court in the autumn.

Jamie Haslett from Onchan, who was studying at Sheffield Hallam University, died last October after being hit by a South Yorkshire Police car in the city.

PC Rodney Craig Mills, 41, faces a charge of causing death by dangerous driving and will appear at Bradford Magistrates Court in September when his case will be committed to crown court.

Jamie, a former St Ninian's High School student, was in his second year studying sport and business management.

He played football for Laxey and was a member of Manx Harriers.
