The Department of Infrastructure is making a plea to drivers to be careful on the Island's roads as a major programme of work gets under way.
The extreme winter weather damaged many surfaces, meaning they will have to be relaid and new road markings put down.
Chippings are also being spread onto roads to help reseal the carriageways, extend the lifespan of surfaces and increase skid resistance.
The department says many of the areas undergoing improvements have 20mph speed limits to protect its workers, and drivers should travel through roadworks slowly.
On top of this, staff are replacing road markings, which in many areas means they will have to be removed first.
There is also a warning that speeding along routes where loose chippings have been laid down could throw stones up against other vehicles, presenting another potential hazard.
The key message to motorists is to drive slowly and carefully while the work is being carried out.
