by isleofman.com 16th July 2011

It’s a crucial day for Mark Cavendish in his bid to win the sprinters’ green jersey at the Tour de France.

The Manxman is 13 points clear of Jose Joaquin Rojas in the points classification going into Sunday's 193km 15th stage from Limoux to Montpellier which is likely to end in a sprint finish.

Cavendish finished the last of the Pyrennes mountain stages in 164th place, 26 minutes and 54 seconds behind stage winner Belgian Jelle Vanendert.

France's Thomas Voeckler retained the overall leader's yellow jersey.
