AN "action packed" urban street sports event for young people in the Isle of Man will take place this evening (Friday).
It has been organised by youth workers from the Department of Education and Children and the emergency services.
The event, which is open to young people aged 11 and over, will consist of a number of challenges including some provided by the Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service.
Youth worker Jackie Fisher said: "The latest urban street sports event is action packed with new challenges set to test ball control and bike riding skills and thanks to our main sponsor of the event, HSBC, we have a good selection of prizes to give away.
"An element of this event is to enhance the relationships between young people, youth workers and the emergency services and to provide some informal education in relation to issues young people face on the streets."
Station officer Nigel Fraser explained: "We will be using our aerial ladder platform as part of one challenge and water pumps to form water spray curtains as part of another. We will also have a vehicle on display that was involved in a fatal crash to promote safer driving and explain the true effects of a serious road collision."
The urban street sports event will start at 7pm and finish at 10pm and will take place in the NSC car park next to the running track. Entry is free. For more information contact the Youth Office on 01624 686057.
