Man pronounced dead in smoke filled home in Patrick

by isleofman.com 14th July 2011

A 50 YEAR old man was pronounced dead at his smoke filled home in Patrick Village yesterday.

Three fire appliances, an ambulance and the police were called to the scene after two patrolling officers were alerted to the incident by a neighbour who had noticed smoke coming from the property.

The officers from the Western Neighbourhood Policing Team entered the property and found the man lying on the kitchen floor. They carried out CPR on the man but he was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the incident had been caused by a frying pan left on the heat but said the man's death was likely to be from natural causes rather than smoke inhalation.

The Coroner of Inquests has been informed and there is no on-going police investigation.
