Payments to railway workers revealed

by isleofman.com 14th July 2011

The five railway workers who have lost their jobs have so far been paid just over ?19,000 each in compulsory early retirement and redundancy pay.

The figure has been revealed in a reply to a Tynwald written question from Rushen MHK Juan Watterson.

Treasury Minister Anne Craine points out the figure is a gross one, before deductions for income tax, national insurance and superannuation contributions.

She adds the workers are also due a remaining balance of lump sum payments, which will be calculated and paid out after this month.
