BMX track set on fire in Castletown park

by isleofman.com 11th July 2011

PART of a BMX track in Poulsom Park in Castletown was set on fire last week.

Police are investigating the act of criminal damage which took place sometime between Thursday, July 7 and Friday, July 8.

A log bridge, which forms part of the track, was set alight – although police believe it may have been accidental as there were disposable barbeques left in the surrounding area.

As a result of the fire damage the bridge is no longer fit for purpose.

Police would like to speak to anyone who had a barbecue in the park or anyone who has information relating to this incident. Please contact PC Lee Wright at Port Erin Police Station on 01624 832222 or e-mail lee.wright@gov.im.

Alternatively information can be sent in anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
