Van drive left shaken after man punches window out

by isleofman.com 9th July 2011

A VAN driver was left shaken last night after a man punched the driver's door window out.

The incident happened at around 11.45pm near to the Royal George Pub in Market Place, Ramsey.

The Ford Escort van was being driven around the area when a male stood in the road and refused to move out of the way.

The male then punched out the window causing it to shatter and shower the van driver in glass.

He is described as in his early 20s, of slim build with dark short hair. He was wearing a dark or grey polo shirt and jeans and after the incident ran off towards the Quayside.

Police believe the area was busy at the time due to the Ramsey Rocks event and have appealed for witnesses to the incident. Police would especially like to speak to two males who spoke with the van driver immediately after the incident occurred and may have provided a name for the suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Sam Cannell at Ramsey Police Station on 01624 812234.
