'Think about Bahrain links', says bishop

Bishop Robert says if he didn't ask questions on ethical as well as spiritual matters the churches may as well close down.

At the last Tynwald sitting of the current administration next Tuesday, he will ask the chief minister to make a statement on the Manx government's reaction to recent reports of serious human rights abuses in Bahrain.

He also wants to know what impact they will have on relations with the Isle of Man, and the double-taxation agreement between the two jurisdictions, which was approved by Tynwald after a lengthy debate in March.

Bishop Robert says he has had concerns for some time and the Manx government needs to think about its links with the country:
