by isleofman.com 8th July 2011

THE Department of Infrastructure has signed a new three year agreement with the Hyperbaric Chamber worth £15,000.

The memorandum of understanding will ensure that the department's dive team will be able to use the chamber for emergency treatment facilities and medical support if required.

In return the department is supporting the chamber's operation costs with a £12,000 annual donation and technical support, materials and labour up to the value of £3,000 per year.

Graham Cregeen MHK, Political Member for the department, said: "I have always thought that the Hyperbaric Chamber and staff do a fantastic job so I am delighted that I have been able to reach this new agreement with them.

"Our dive team work in an arduous and dangerous environment and it is a comfort to us all that this facility is available on the Island if we need it.

"This agreement continues the Operation Division's long association with the hyperbaric chamber and builds on it by giving us access to the chambers in Ireland or the UK if for any reason the Isle of Man’s Chamber was not available in an emergency situation."
