A NUMBER of models of fridge freezers have been identified as having a potential safety hazard following fires in the UK.
A total of 15 people were injured and one person died due to fires caused by faulty defrost timers on certain models of Beko frost free fridge freezers.
The Isle of Man Office of Fair Trading and the Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service said the Beko frost free fridge freezers in question were manufactured between January 2000 and October 2006.
The models are:
o CA 5411 FFS/FFW/FFX
o CA 7014 FFX
o CA 7015 FFW/FFS/FFX
o CDA 539 FS/FW/FX
o CDA 543 FS/FW/FX
o CDA 645 FW
o CDA 647 FS/FW
o CDA 648 FS/FW
o CDA 653 FS/FW/FX
o CDA 659 FS
o CDA 751 FS/FX
o CDA 752 FS/FW/FX
o CS 460 FF/FFS/FFW/FFSD
o CS 461 FFW/FFS
o CSA 4706 FFX
o CSB 4606 FFSD/FFS/FFW
These models have a serial number that begins 00, 01, 02, 03, 04, 05 or 06 which can be found on a label inside the fridge.
Anyone with one of these models who has not already been contacted by Beko and had the faulty defrost timer replaced should contact Beko immediately on its free phone number 0800 009 4837 between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday.

The OFT is also making people aware that the LEC TF2304W fridge freezer model number TF2304W in white which was manufactured between January 2004 and October 2006 is also the subject of a safety recall by the manufacturers GDHA because of problems with the defrost timer.
Anyone who has this model or concerns about a LEC fridge freezer they own should contact the manufacturers immediately on 0800 110 5728 between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday and provide the model and serial number of the appliance.
The manufacturer will arrange a home visit to make the modification to the product at no charge.
