An inquest into the death of an Onchan man has opened and adjourned today (Thursday).
The body of 32 year-old Andrew Paul David Cross was discovered at Scarlett Point Beach in Castletown on the 26th of June.
The cause of death was given as asphyxia due to salt water drowning.
The court also heard there were visible signs of injury to the right side of Mr Cross' head.
His death is not being treated as suspicious.
Coroner Alistair Montgomery extended his sympathies to Mr Cross' family.
The inquest was adjourned so further investigations can be carried out.
