Contest for presidency confirmed

Clare Christian is to contest the position of president of Tynwald, once held by her father Sir Charles Kerruish.

It has been speculated that the member of the Legislative Council would throw her hat into the ring.

Speaker of the House of Keys Steve Rodan had already said he wanted the role, and it's thought chief minister Tony Brown might also be involved.

Mrs Christian's announcement has confirmed there will be a contest when Tynwald elects a new president at next week's sitting:
