by isleofman.com 4th July 2011

Fresh from picking up one gold and one silver at the Natwest Island Games, Manx archery prodigy Aalin George took her red-hot form into the Junior National Outdoor Competition at Lilleshall at the weekend.

On Saturday, shooting the Junior National Fita Star round, Aalin finished with a score of 1378, which was a new British national junior record.

She also set a new national junior mark at the longest distance of 70m and one for the Long Metric, which is the two longest distances of 70m and 60m combined , the scores being 348 and 345 respectively.

The scores she recorded at the Island Games and Lilleshall were the remaining two she required to attain Grand Master Bowman status at senior level, putting Aalin in the top 1% of British archers.

On Sunday she went on to compete for the Junior National Compound Championship, shooting a Hereford round - 6 dozen arrows at 80 yds, 4 dozen at 60 yds and 2 dozen at 50 yds .

The maximum possible for this round is 1296.

Of her 144 arrows, 137 of them were in the gold, giving her an overall score of 1280.

This was a new national junior record for the round by 16 points, and 96 points ahead of the second-placed archer.

Sister Kirsten, shooting in a younger age group than Aalin, finished her Metric 3 round on Saturday with a score of 1345, which put her in third position.

On Sunday she shot a Bristol 3 round with an overall score of 1274, putting her in second.
