ONE of the founder members of the Liberal Vannin Party will stand for election in Garff in the election in September.
Nigel Dobson, a former chairman of Lonan Commissioners, stood for the area in the 2006 general election but was unsuccessful.
His candidacy for the same constituency was decided at a meeting of the party last week.
Nigel said: "I am pleased to be asked once again to stand in Garff on behalf of Liberal Vannin.
"The next five years are likely to be extremely challenging for whoever is elected to the Keys and a strong voice to challenge and question government can only help to ensure right decisions are taken to secure the future prosperity of our precious Island.
"It is equally important that we encourage and support those that will lead our government in the next parliament to make what will be difficult choices in the current global economic downturn."
Party leader Peter Karran MHK said: "I am delighted that Nigel has again been selected to stand in Garff. He has been a loyal member since the inception of the party and will be a real asset to both the constituents of Garff and to the Island as a whole as a national politician."
