Budding artists add a splash of colour to primary school

by isleofman.com 4th July 2011

BUDDING artists from Ballakermeen High School have brightened up the front of Kewaigue Primary School.

The students, along with their art teacher Joanne Kimber, designed and created a new mural for the front of the school after the old one had fallen victim to age and weather.

Initial ideas for the mural were suggested by pupils from Kewaigue and then drawn and painted by Ballakermeen students during lunchtimes and after school sessions as part of an enrichment programme.

Tracy Willoughby, the headteacher at Kewaigue School, said: "We are delighted with the murals. They add a splash of colour and excitement to the front of the school and really add to the positive environment."

The mural, which shows children enjoying the garden, has been varnished to help it withstand the elements and was fitted to the front of Kewaigue School by the Department of Education and Children.
