'Blair understood Isle of Man's importance'

A former chief minister is praising a former United Kingdom prime minister for his stance towards the Isle of Man.

Donald Gelling, who retired from front-line politics in 2007 after 21 years as an MHK and MLC, says Tony Blair understood the importance of the Island and its role on the bigger stage.

He was speaking ahead of an expected announcement later this month of the loss of further millions of pounds from the Island's share of the VAT revenue sharing agreement:
