Manx welcome for homecomers

by isleofman.com 3rd July 2011

Preparations are underway for a week of events to mark the centenary of the World Manx Association.

Celebrations are centred around Tynwald Week in early July, with St John's the venue for the annual 'Homecoming' on Tynwald Day.

This year, there's to be a service at the Nunnery after the Tynwald garden party, while a line-up of local talent will perform in a concert at the Villa Marina.

Manx associations are scattered all over the world in places as far-flung as New Zealand, South Africa and Luxembourg, with a network of groups in North America and Canada.

Angie Weimar is on the centenary committee. She says the World Manx Association helps people keep in touch with the Island:

The Homecomers service is on Sunday, July 3, at 6.30pm in a marquee at the Nunnery.

The World Manx Association centenary concert is in the Promenade Suite at the Villa Marina on Wednesday, July 6 at 7.30pm.
