Police officer charged following death of teenager

A SOUTH Yorkshire police officer has been summoned to face a charge of causing death by careless driving in relation to the death of an Isle of Man student.

 

Jamie Haslett, 19, of Onchan, who was studying at Sheffield Hallam University, died after being involved in an incident with a South Yorkshire police car in Sheffield on October 27 last year.

 

PC Rodney Craig Mills, 41, will face the charge when he appears before Bradford Magistrates' Court on July 15. The charge follows an Independent Police Complaints Commission investigation.
