Joey Dunlop memorial ride out this afternoon

by isleofman.com 2nd July 2011

A RIDE out in memory of 26-times TT winner Joey Dunlop takes place on the TT course this afternoon (Saturday).

Joey, from Ballymoney, Northern Ireland, died in a racing accident in Estonia on July 2 2000.

Last year a ride out organised by the Joey Dunlop Foundation on the 10th anniversary of Joey's death saw 400 bikes and a handful of cars take to the course.

This time, the charity - which runs the Joey Dunlop Foundation house at Braddan Bridge to provide accommodation for visitors with special needs - wants to hit the 500 mark.

To avoid overcrowding, it is urging participants to arrive at the Grandstand from 3pm. The lap, on open roads, will start at 4pm.

To enter participants are being asked to buy a Joey Dunlop Foundation 2011 T shirt which costs £12.

Those who have not already bought one can purchase one this afternoon.
