Disgusting and disrespectful say police after canvasses are stolen from church

by isleofman.com 1st July 2011

A NUMBER of canvasses have been stolen from Trinity Church in Patrick in what police are calling a "disgusting act".

The canvasses, which all depict flower scenes, were stolen from the church between 10am on Wednesday and 9.30am yesterday.

PC Leanne Walsh said: "This is a disgusting act which is highly disrespectful and is likely to cause much upset in the community.

"Churches are intended as buildings of sanctuary and as a result of the actions of a few thoughtless individuals this place of worship will now have to be locked for the foreseeable future."

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Walsh at Peel Police Station on 01624 842208.
