Late show keeps Manx second

by isleofman.com 1st July 2011

The Isle of Man is still second, behind Guernsey, in the medals table as the final day of competition at the NatWest Island Games in the Isle of Wight gets under way.

The Manx were lying fourth, but three late golds yesterday (Thursday) lifted them two places.

They came in cycling, with Andrew Roche winning the mens' individual time trial and the Isle of Man team also striking gold. The third victory came from athlete Harriet Pryke won her second gold of the games in the womens' 200 metres.

Swimmer Charlotte Atkinson got a silver in the 200 metres butterfly, and there were bronzes in the shooting for Julie Layton and Ronita Schizmanska in the 25 metre sport pistol. There was bronze too for the womens' time trial team in the cycling.
