THE first phase of the project to move the Northern Neighbourhood Policing Team to Ramsey Town Hall has started.
The team has moved from the ground floor of Ramsey courthouse to the first floor and will later move to the town hall.
The ground floor of the courthouse is being converted into Ramsey's new post office which is due to open in August.
Police said it is 'business as usual' in terms of the service provided to the public and said the police counter will remain in the same position at the courthouse for the next three months.
Design and planning work is being undertaken for alterations to Ramsey Town Hall to accommodate the police.
Northern Neighbourhood Policing Team Inspector Richard Power said: "Members of the public can be assured that there will be no disruption to police services over the next three months whilst this work takes place.
"The creation of a new police station at the town hall represents a very positive step forward in terms of partnership working for the benefit of the northern neighbourhood.
"Our focus is very much on community policing and dealing with local issues as a local level and we will continue to work closely with all local authorities and agencies in a determined effort to deliver the best possible service."
The police and post office moves are seen as an integral part of an overall strategy to regenerate the town centre and enhance facilities for residents and businesses in the north of the Island.
