Bus drivers do compromise, insists union chief

Union bosses say they’ve already made significant concessions to bus management – but may strike over changes to sick pay entitlement.

Steve Salter, the regional industrial organiser for Unite, says a 48-hour walkout is planned for Tynwald Day and the day afterwards.

He explained the row is over a number of proposed changes to working conditions and negotiations are ongoing to avert the strike.

But in particular, he says one sticking point is how many hours drivers are paid for when they fall ill.
