YOUNG musicians from the Soundcheck project will be performing at the Queenie Festival this weekend.
Soundcheck, which is run by the Department of Education and Children's Youth Service, provides musicians in school Year 9 and above with rehearsal space and the opportunity to receive tuition and encouragement from musicians and youth leaders.
Seven acts which have developed under the wing of the Soundcheck project will perform on the Sure Stage on Alfred Pier in Port St Mary, on Sunday (July 3).
With several thousand people expected to attend the festival over the weekend, it's an ideal opportunity for the talented young musicians to connect with new audiences.
The artists on the bill - whose music ranges from indie to metal - have already been honing their stagecraft at the regular Soundcheck gigs in the Villa Marina's Promenade Suite and on tour in small venues around the Island.
The full line-up is: Savage Tim, Jake Orritt, The Same, The Kinky Wizards, Four Along Zero, Scarlett Brunstrom and With Eyes Wide Shut.
The Soundcheck acts are just one element in a weekend of live music running throughout the Queenie Festival.
Performing on Friday night at the Sure Beach Party in Port Erin will be Stonechase, DJ Chris Sterio and Mr Eliminator & The Deadly Vipers.
The surf band will then open the Sure Stage on Saturday for a live afternoon which climaxes with the unmissable 'Scallop Dancing - On Thin Ice'.
Meanwhile, on both Saturday and Sunday, a folk stage behind Lime Street will feature a host of local talent, from the Mollag Band and The Reeling Stones to Nick Barlow and The Fecktones.
Last but not least, those attending Saturday night's sold out Seafood Extravaganza in the Alfred Pier Marquee will be able to enjoy the music of Buncha Skankas.
Admission to the Queenie Festival on Saturday, July 2 - Sunday, July 3 is just £2 for adults and free for children (the Sure Beach Party is free entry).
