Fisherman dies of suspected heart attack

by isleofman.com 28th June 2011

A 45-year-old man has died after being air-lifted from a fishing vessel by an RAF rescue helicopter.

Douglas lifeboat, the Sir William Hillary, was also launched just before midday today (Tuesday) to go to the aid of fishing vessel The Aztec.

The alarm was raised after crew member James Morrison, from Kirkcudbright, suffered chest pains and collapsed.

The helicopter flew Mr Morrison to Noble's Hospital but coastguards at Liverppol, who coordinate marine rescues in the area of the Irish Sea around the Isle of Man, later confirmed he had passed away.

It's understood he suffered a heart attack.
