by isleofman.com 28th June 2011

The Isle of Man goes into the third day of competition at the NatWest Island Games in the Isle of Wight with a total of 22 medals, namely eight gold, seven silver and seven bronze.

The Manx team lost last night's badminton final to Guernsey 3-2, after leading 2-0, but it was the Island's first ever medal in the sport.

Yesterday (Monday) the Isle of Man picked up 14 more medals, including golds in shooting, archery and swimming.

The golds included a great effort from Aalin George in the archery and a comfortable win for Keith Gerrard in the 5,000 metres.

There were silvers in shooting and swimming and bronze medals in the mountain biking, shooting, archery and swimming.
