Paddy's Fish of the Week - Tilapia

by isleofman.com 27th June 2011

THIS week Paddy's has chosen tilapia as the Fish of the Week.

All about tilapia …

Due to their hardiness and delicious flavour tilapia have been a favourite of farmed fish since ancient times.

Tilapia, also called St John's Fish, are native to Israel and thrive in the Sea of Galilee. They like warm water and can live in fresh, brackish or salt water.

To cook simply…

Tilapia is very versatile. The firm white meat can be pan fried, grilled or baked. Why not try en-papilotte using seal and cook bags?

This fish goes extremely well with chilli butter, chilli and lime or Cajun spices.

Until Sunday, July 3, whole tilapia will be £3.42 per lb. Fillet tilapia will be £7.34 per lb.  There will be a sampling session at the Paddy's counter in Shoprite, Victoria Road, Douglas on Saturday.
