Corkish aims to regain his seat

by isleofman.com 27th June 2011

A second candidate has declared his intention to contest the two-seat constituency of West Douglas in the forthcoming general election.

Geoff Corkish, who first became an MHK in 2006, is writing to his constituents saying he hopes to represent them for a second term.

He says he will be distributing his manifesto closer to polling day, but takes the opportunity to list the varied responsibilities he has taken on as a member of government.

Among other roles, he is currently the political member of the Department of Economic Development with responsibility for tourism.

Mr Corkish is also reminding his constituents of the importance of making sure they are eligible to voting, which can be done by contacting the General Registry.

With just over two months to go to Nominations Day, the other person who has declared in West Douglas so far is taxi driver Martin Moore.
