Will there be a record number of Parish Walk finishers?

by isleofman.com 26th June 2011

THERE is every chance that this year’s Parish Walk could have yet another record number of finishers.

Conditions during the race have been very good, particularly at the start, and once the heat of the sun disappeared in the early evening it made life much better for the hundreds of walkers still out on the 85 miles course.

There were more walkers through Peel than ever before and the roads were heavily congested in the north of the Island from late afternoon onwards with huge numbers of walkers still progressing and hundreds of vehicles following the event.

Huge crowds took advantage of the warm weather conditions to encourage the walkers, with big numbers spotted at Rushen, Peel, Kirk Michael, Andreas, Ramsey and the Liverpool Arms Hotel as well as all along the route.

The cut-off for the last walkers is 8am on Sunday morning.

isleofman.com will update the statistics on Sunday morning.
