Bad start to semi-final for Manx cricket team

by isleofman.com 24th June 2011

The Isle of Man cricket team has had a nightmare start to their semi-final match in Belgium.

Against Group B runners-up Austria the Manx won the toss and chose to bat first; after seven overs they were 10 for 7.

It looked like an ignominious beating was on the cards but a brave stand from Ricky Kniveton and Chris Hawke dragged it back to 85 for 8 when Kniveton went out LBW.

The Manx lasted until the 19th over when Chris Hawke was caught by Austria's Amar Naeem.

Austria have gone in to bat chasing a fairly lowly 94.
