Town amalgamation mooted

Castletown might benefit from becoming part of a larger local authority, according to one of the town’s Keys candidates.

Commissioner Carol Quine will be standing in Castletown in September’s general election.

She says the Island’s ancient capital desperately needs more affordable housing for young people trying to get on the property ladder.

But she told John Moss the town boundaries mean only limited space is available - and delays to the Southern Area Plan mean new ideas are needed.
