Bake cakes for kids to raise money for local charity

by isleofman.com 23rd June 2011

THE Children's Centre is aiming to raise £3,000 by asking local people to bake cakes for kids.

Businesses and schools across the Island are being asked to support Cakes for Kids day, which is part of Children's Week, on July 15.

Last year 17 organisations took part and raised £1,500 for the centre but this year organisers want to double that amount.

Michelle O'Malley, fundraising manager at The Children's Centre, said: "We've always had a huge amount of support from the community for our fundraising and we just hope that people get behind Cakes for Kids.

"To get involved you just need some enthusiasm, a sense of fun and a fair bit of buttercream.

"Baking is a great activity to do with your children or grandchildren so what better way to get involved than in Children's Week."

The Children’s Centre will provide a fundraising pack to anyone who wishes to take part. This includes poster templates, information and recipes. Each organisation that takes part will receive a certificate.

If you would like to take part in Cakes for Kids day e-mail fundraising@thechildrenscentre.org.im or call Michelle on 01624 631919.

Children's Week runs from July 10 to July 16. For more information click here.
