Breast surgeon motion defeated in Tynwald

East Douglas MHK Brenda Cannell says the battle to keep the Isle of Man's specialist breast surgeon may have been lost, but it may cost politicians votes in September’s election.

Last night (Tuesday) in Tynwald, her motion to force the Department of Health to keep the surgeon was defeated, confirming a general surgeon with an interest in breast care will now be recruited.

Mrs Cannell says there is now little she can do in practical terms to try to change the department's policy.

But she says the issue may raise its head at the polls later this year:
