'Two-wins Tuesday' for Manx in Belgium

by isleofman.com 21st June 2011

The Isle of Man's cricket team are topping their group at the European Division 2 Championships after two convincing wins in Belgium.

On Tuesday morning, Castletown's Gareth Morris chalked up an unbeaten 141 to set Cyprus a target of 224.

Cyprus had no response when they went in to bat, and were seen off for 74.

Against Finland, later in the day, the Manx bowlers were again on form clearing out the opposition for only 87 runs.

The Isle of Man's batsmen reached the target in comfortable style losing only Gareth Morris, bowled by Bilal Khan for 26.

That made it three straight wins for the Manx, after Monday's success against Luxembourg.

Today (Wednesday) is a rest day and on Thursday the Isle of Man take on Portugal at Mechelen.
